Holiday Time

Ok, so I've neglected to write anything on my blog since I created it in September. I've been preoccupied with life I suppose. What have I been doing? Good question. As I think back to September when I created this little space my parents have been out for a visit from California, I bought a new car, took a trip to Fossil Rim, and went to the State Fair of Texas. Ok, that covers September.

October took a bad turn at the end of the month. My favorite and beloved Banner went to Rainbow Bridge. Here it is a month later and I'm still just as heart broken over it as I was a month ago. Banner (aka "Ban Man") loved to eat things that he shouldn't. He had 9 lives and used them up on that fateful October day when he ate a small corn cob that must have been dropped in my yard by a neighborhood squirrel. My vet (the greatest vet in the USA I might add) removed it during surgery, but this time surgery wasn't enough. The corn cob had done too much damage and my baby boy couldn't pull through this time. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let my boy go. I've had many pets pass through my life over the last 42 years, but Banner was by far THE most special to me. That darn boy taught me a lot about life and about unconditional love. There was never a day he wasn't glad to see me - he was truly my heart dog.

Here it is Thanksgiving the end of November nears and the start of the Holiday season has begun. My usual worries over where the money for Christmas and Joey's birthday have begun. Things always work out for me, but for some reason every year my worries surface. I need to remind myself of things I'm thankful for.
  • I have a healthy, happy son.
  • I have a home to come home to at the end of the day.
  • I have a great job.
  • I have a supportive family.
  • I have a best friend who understands me and still laughs.
  • I have a pantry full of food.
  • My dogs love me.

Those are just a few things I'm thankful for. There are many others, but those are most important to me.

Happy Thanksgiving! Don't stuff yourself.
